Ethno New Zealand is an artistic residency of traditional/ folk/world music that gathers young musicians – singers and instrumentalists – from Aotearoa and the rest of the world for 10 intense days of friendship, sharing and lots of music and dance! We welcome both individual musicians and bands.
Ethno New Zealand is held on Piritahi Marae on Waiheke Island. A Marae (Māori meeting place) provides the perfect foundations for a pacific Ethno experience. This is a unique experience that will give you a deeper understanding of our indigenous peoples of New Zealand and our many other cultures that reside here in Aotearoa (the land of the long white cloud) all while creating musical magic. The week will culminate in a number of performances, one of them at the iconic Auckland Folk Festival.
