Ethno Arctic is an international music camp for young musicians from around the world who want to meet, collaborate, and share their interest in traditional music.
Participants bring music from their own cultural backgrounds and teach it to the group, while learning from others in a peer-to-peer process. Each participant shares a tune or song, which is then arranged and developed together. The process is supported by artistic mentors, but the participants themselves shape the music.
The days include workshops, group sessions, rehearsals, informal jam sessions, and public performances. Through this, participants get to explore different musical traditions, work closely with others, and build connections across cultures.
Ethno Arctic is organised by Jeunesses Musicales Norway and is part of the international Ethno programme initiated by Jeunesses Musicales International. The project builds on previous editions of Ethno Norway and is now developed as Ethno Arctic, taking place in Northern Norway.
As part of the wider Ethno network, the camp creates a space for cultural exchange, collaboration, and meeting others through music.
