Ethno Flanders 2005 was the seventh edition of the Belgian international folk music camp, held on the Flemish coast in Ostend as part of the growing global Ethno network by Jeunesses Musicales International. The camp was organized by Muziekmozaïek, the Flemish centre for folk and jazz music.
Bringing together around 40 to 50 young musicians aged 16–30, the week-long residency focused on peer-to-peer learning, with participants teaching each other traditional tunes by ear. The collaborative “big band” sound combined Western European folk instruments with global influences from across five continents.
The camp concluded with a high-energy showcase at the Festival Dranouter, presenting the repertoire created during the residency.
