Ethno England 2003 marked the inaugural edition of the programme in England, as part of the global Ethno network by Jeunesses Musicales International. Held in York, the camp brought together young musicians from different countries to share folk, world, and traditional music through peer-to-peer learning.
Structured around workshops, jam sessions, rehearsals, and performances, participants took leading roles in teaching music that held cultural significance to them. Alongside the internal programme, musicians engaged in community outreach activities and concluded the camp with public performances, promoting intercultural understanding and collaboration through music.
