Our Not for profit organization, Roots in Tune partnered up with JM International and our team of passionate volunteers is proudly organizing the first edition of Ethno Ireland in August 2025 .
If you’re between 16 and 25 years of age, and you wish to be part of Ethno history by attending the very first Ethno Ireland, then be quick and secure a spot!
As a participant, you’ll be asked to share a tune, song or even a dance from your traditional music repertoire or culture. You’ll be asked to host a short workshop during the course to share your music with the other participants.
The music sharing happens mainly by ear, so a well trained ear to pick up the tunes is essential. A moderate to advanced skills level is required for participants to join.
If this is your first Ethno to attend, be prepared for a journey that will bring you to many more Ethno’s all over the world, Ethno can be rather addictive!
The participation fee is €320 (same price for all the participants). The fee includes the course, the accommodation, the food and the excursions. The transport from and to the camp is not included.
Ethno Ireland offers some residencies for mobility grant participants approved by the Ethno.World program. More info on how to apply for the residency and the mobility grant can be accessed here: Ethno.World Mobility
We have a maximum capacity of 30 participants and we’ll keep 10 spots for Irish participants.
We’re delighted to welcome you in August and can’t wait to meet you all!
Feel free to connect through our social media platforms, You’ll find us on Instagram and Facebook.
We’ll be staying at the Scouting Facilities and lodge of Lough Dan, in the beautiful Wicklow Mountains. A very Idyllic location that has been used for many movies and tv series such as ‘Vikings’. The closest village is Roundwood, although located in the middle of the Wicklow Mountains, we’re still in close proximity to Dublin Town. Have a look on the map!
Participants will share dorms (4 to 8 people sharing a room), we will provide the option to choose a female, male or mixed dorm. Get in contact if you wish to receive more info on the infrastructure.
